Why We Clean Rugs Here, Not at Your House
An area rug is not wall-to-wall carpet. Carpet is attached to your floor and can only be cleaned from the top. A rug can be lifted, worked on from both sides, and dried under controlled conditions. Cleaning it in place gives up all three of those advantages.
Most of what is in a rug is underneath it. Years of grit works down through the pile and sits against the foundation, where surface cleaning never reaches. That grit is also what cuts the fibers every time someone walks across it.
And drying matters as much as washing. A rug left damp on a floor in Florida humidity is how you get odor, and how a wool rug ends up smelling worse than it did before. Ours dry in a controlled environment, not on your tile.
That is why this service is in-store. Bring your rug to 4360 S State Rd 7, or call and we will talk you through it first.
The Rug Is Usually Worth
More Than the Cleaning
Area rugs take more traffic than anything else in a house and get cleaned less than anything else in it. By the time one looks dirty, it has usually been holding several pounds of grit for a while.
Each rug is assessed individually. Material, construction, dye stability, and how it has actually been used all change the approach, and a method that is right for a machine-made synthetic will damage a hand-knotted wool.
Good rugs are made to last decades and generally outlive several cleanings. Regular professional cleaning is what makes that happen, rather than a rug quietly wearing out from the inside.
What We Clean
Rugs We Handle
Material and construction decide the method. Tell us what you have, and if you are not sure, bring it in and we will identify it.
-
Wool Rugs
Wool is durable and forgiving but reacts badly to the wrong chemistry and to heat. Cleaned with products suited to natural fibers, so the rug stays soft rather than coming back stiff and dull.
-
Oriental & Persian
Hand-knotted rugs need dye stability checked before anything wet touches them, because a rug that bleeds is a rug you cannot un-bleed. We test first and tell you what we find.
-
Silk & Viscose
The most easily ruined rugs in any house. Viscose in particular yellows and mats when it gets wet the wrong way. These are assessed carefully and handled differently from wool.
-
Synthetics & Machine-Made
Polypropylene, nylon, and machine-woven rugs take a more robust process and usually clean up dramatically. Often the best value cleaning in the shop.
-
Shag & High Pile
Deep pile hides an enormous amount and is almost impossible to clean at home. Worked through the full depth of the pile rather than skimmed across the top.
-
Fringe & Edges
Fringe greys first and is the first thing anyone notices. Edges and binding take the wear. Both get attention rather than being cleaned around.
Common Problems
What We Treat
Florida is hard on rugs. Humidity, sliding doors, sand, and pets between them account for most of what comes through the door.
-
Pet Accidents & Odor
Urine soaks through to the backing, which is why surface cleaning makes it smell fine for a week and then worse. Bring it in and we will tell you honestly what can be achieved.
-
Spills & Set-In Stains
Wine, coffee, food, ink. The sooner we see it the better, and blotting rather than rubbing at home makes a real difference to what we can do later.
-
Musty Smell & Mildew
A rug in a closed-up seasonal home, or one that got damp and dried slowly, holds odor in the foundation. See also our mold and mildew removal for textiles.
-
Sun Fading & Wear
Florida light through a sliding door fades one side of a rug faster than the other. Cleaning will not reverse fading, but rotating a rug and cleaning it regularly slows the damage considerably.
-
Sand & Embedded Grit
The one nobody thinks about, and the one doing the most damage. Grit works to the base of the pile and cuts fibers underfoot. Getting it out is most of what a proper cleaning is.
-
Water Damage
A rug caught in a leak or a storm needs handling quickly before mildew sets into the foundation. Call us as soon as it happens rather than letting it dry where it is.
How Rug Cleaning Is Priced
Price depends on size, material, and condition. A machine-made synthetic and a hand-knotted wool of the same dimensions are not the same job, and heavy soiling or pet contamination adds work.
Measure your rug before you call and we can give you a much better estimate over the phone. Length times width in feet is all we need.
| Small accent | 3 × 5 ft = 15 sq ft |
|---|---|
| Common area rug | 5 × 8 ft = 40 sq ft |
| Living room | 8 × 10 ft = 80 sq ft |
| Large room | 9 × 12 ft = 108 sq ft |
| Runner | 2.5 × 10 ft = 25 sq ft |
You get a firm price and a realistic ready-by date at drop-off, before any work starts. Call (561) 530-4881 with your dimensions for an estimate first.
Why Palm Luxe
Why Choose Us
What you get when you hand us something you walk on every day
-
Cleaned Off Your Floor
The rug comes to us, gets worked on from both sides, and dries in a controlled space. None of that is possible with a machine parked in your driveway.
-
Modern Technology & Equipment
Professional-grade equipment and processes matched to the rug in front of us, protecting fibers and dyes rather than treating every rug the same way.
-
Eco-Friendly & Safe Options
Biodegradable solutions that are gentle on fibers and safe for the family and pets who spend their time on the rug. We do not use Perchloroethylene (Perc).
-
An Honest Assessment
If a rug is not worth cleaning, or a stain is not coming out, or the dyes look unstable, you hear it before we start rather than when you collect it.
The Process
This is How We Work
Bring your rug to 4360 S State Rd 7, Wellington. We assess it, clean it, dry it properly, and have it ready for collection.
-
Drop Off & Assessment
We inspect the rug on arrival: material, construction, dye stability, soiling, existing damage, and any pet or odor issues. You get the price and a realistic date before anything begins.
-
Deep Clean
Grit is worked out of the base of the pile before anything else, because washing a rug full of sand just makes mud. Cleaning products are matched to the fiber and to the dyes.
-
Dried & Ready to Collect
Controlled drying, then a final check of pile, fringe, and edges before we call you. Collect in-store when it suits you.
Common Questions
Rug Cleaning
What customers ask before bringing a rug in
It depends on size, material, and condition. Measure the rug in feet before you call and we can give you a useful estimate on the phone. You get a firm price at drop-off before any work starts.
Rug cleaning is an in-store service, so rugs are dropped off and collected at 4360 S State Rd 7. If you have a large rug and moving it is a problem, call us and we will talk through the options.
Longer than garments, because drying cannot be rushed. A rug that goes home damp will smell, so we let it dry properly. We confirm a realistic date at drop-off.
It depends how far it went and how long it sat. Urine passes through to the backing, which is why surface treatments work briefly and then fail. Bring the rug in and we will assess it and tell you honestly what is realistic.
For a rug in a main living area with people and pets on it, every 12 to 18 months is a reasonable rhythm. A guest room rug can go much longer. The thing to avoid is waiting until it looks dirty, because by then the grit has been grinding away underneath for a while.
We test dye stability before cleaning, particularly on hand-knotted and older rugs, because a rug that bleeds cannot be un-bled. If the dyes look unstable we tell you before starting rather than after.
You can, and on a synthetic rug it may be fine. The risk is water: home machines put more in than they take out, and a rug drying slowly on a floor in Florida is how you get a permanent musty smell. On wool, silk, or anything hand-knotted, it is not worth the gamble.
Worth checking while the rug is off the floor. Old pads break down, stick to floors, and can discolor them. If yours is crumbling or has gone hard, replace it rather than putting a freshly cleaned rug back on top of it.
